Kinked Mini-Split Line Set Repaired Near Luck, WI

We repaired a mini-split near Luck, WI that another contractor had installed. The line set had a kink in it, and a pinched line like that restricts refrigerant flow and makes the whole system work harder than it should.

We recovered the refrigerant and cut out the kinked section, which is the piece in the left photo. Then we spliced in new copper with an RLS press fitting (right photo) and redid one of the flares.

Before recharging, we pressure-tested the system with nitrogen and pulled a vacuum to make sure it was tight and dry. Then we recharged it and put it back in service.
