Heat Pumps vs. AC Units

Time for New AC? How about a Heat Pump?

If its time for a new central AC upgrade, before pulling the trigger you should consider a Heat Pump! A Heat Pump is basically a new AC, except it can run in forwards or reverse—meaning in the summer it can cool your home, and in the winter it can heat your home!

You may be thinking, “I already have a furnace for that”, which is understandable. But adding a heat pump can enhance your HVAC system in several ways:

Alternative Heat Source: A heat pump as opposed to a new AC, allows for an alternative heating system. If your furnace combustion system has a failure, the heat pump can provide alternative heat until the furnace is repaired. Frequently we get called to homes with interior temperatures hovering dangerously low in the home because of a relatively simple furnace failure. Had the homeowner invested in a heat pump, they wouldn’t be in their current predicament.

More affordable Heat: Heat pumps, when paired with an off-peak electric system, are often more affordable to operate than a combustion furnace system. This can generate a return on your investment that you can appreciate for years to come!

Efficiency: Because of their design, heat pumps often complete the cooling process more efficiently than the average new AC. This too will generate savings for years to come as you enjoy your new heat pump!

Rebates: Heat pumps are given added incentives via the Focus On Energy program. If paired with a new natural gas furnace, the rebate can be up to $1,000.00!

Heat Pumps aren’t for everyone, but they do add several advantages to the HVAC systems in MN & WI. If you’re considering installing a new AC at your home, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take a look at how a heat pump could be beneficial to you!
